World Book Day
On Thursday 7th March we will be celebrating World Book Day. Students are welcome to dress as their favourite book character in place of school uniform. Students will not be required to make a donation for this and those not dressed in characters should wear normal school uniform.
Easter Revision School- English
With the GCSE exams quickly approaching, the staff at DMA are eager to implement as much support as possible for our year 11 students. All of the research shows how impactful revision is in achieving positive results in the exams, however we know it is something that many students struggle to do effectively on their own. We have introduced strategies such as effective revision days and whole year poetry sessions in school and the feedback from students has been extremely positive. With this in mind, we have decided to offer English revision days over the Easter holidays in an attempt to provide detailed guidance and support for the English exam, which takes place shortly after the Easter break.
These revision days will be invaluable for the students to correct any misunderstandings and strengthen their preparation for the exams. Due to the benefit that we believe these sessions will provide to the students if they will not be attending we would appreciate it if you could reply to let us know. Otherwise, we will be assuming your child will be present at all sessions. This will allow the English staff to organise the sessions effectively and potentially implement more sessions dependent on the numbers.
The sessions will be taking place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in both the first and second week of Easter. The information discussed in the first week will be repeated in the second week; however, students are encourage to attend both weeks.

Science Week Events; Monday 11th to Friday 15th March
There have been several invitations sent out this week to students from Years 7, 8 and 9 to attend sessions with external providers including the RAF from Marham and The Sanger Institute from Cambridge. We have also got a KS5 Chemistry trip to UEA going out and on site all week we will have merchandise from the Gadget Shop available to buy from the Assembly Hall at break and lunch times. For this reason, please allow students to bring money in through the week to purchase any of these items. They are priced from 50p to £2.50 and include things such as crystal gem kits, bouncy putty, stretchy men, make your own snow and rocket launchers.
Support sheets for this half term’s homework are now available on the school website http://downhammarketacademy.co.uk/life-at-downham/send/. In addition homework support is available every day afterschool in the Inclusion Room (Mon – Thurs 3-4pm, Fri 3-3.30)
