9th May Year 7 Parents Evening
Continuing Successes at DMA
A vast number of our students in Year 7 – 10 are meeting or exceeding their potential grades in at least one subject.
Consequently, we will be celebrating their success in assemblies next week. Additionally, emails will be sent to parents so they can congratulate their children.

Following a review of arrivals at the Academy the procedure has been modified to improve student safety. The carpark is extremely busy with buses and taxis collecting and dropping off students. From Tuesday 7th May please drop and pick up any students arriving by car in the laybys outside school, this will reduce the traffic and congestion in the car park and most importantly keep the students of the Academy safe.
If there are medical reasons or you have a pre-booked appointment at the Academy please use the carpark.
Sixth form students gave their EPQ presentations this week. They have been working independently on their projects which have ranged from exploring Nuclear Fission, investigating the negative impacts of social media and designing a hurdy-gurdy. Students have invested a huge amount of time and energy in their projects and delivered extremely high quality presentations showcasing their work.
The Year 11 exams start next week with Art on Wednesday to Friday. We are pleased to see so many students staying after school to make the most of last minute revision sessions and being really engaged with activities in timetabled lessons. From Tuesday next week, we switch to the revision timetable for Year 11 which means that students can be with subject specialists before each exam for final words of advice and revision tasks. Everyone has a copy of the timetable and group lists are displayed on a week-by-week basis for every session in the canteen – students need to look at these at the start of each day to see where they should be.
We are looking forward to welcoming our new intake of Year 7 students in September and final preparations are underway for three transition days in July. Members of DMA staff will be visiting all of our feeder primary schools to meet with Year 6 students as well as their teachers to ensure that the move to “big school” is as smooth as possible.
There has been an increase in the cost of the school ties. From 7th May these will now cost 5.25 and are available from the finance office.
