Important Dates

New Academic Year

It has been such a positive start to the year. Its been lovely to welcome everyone back to school and especially our new Year 7 who have made a very impressive start, looking great in their new uniform. We welcome lots of new staff this year in a range of subjects.

The Academy website (https://downhammarketacademy.co.uk/) has lots of new content this year under the “Life at DMA” section from the main menu – please do look through the various pages for information concerning your child.

GCSE Results

Congratulations to last years Year 11, who achieved the best results DMA have had in a very long time. 71% achieved a pass in maths and 70% in English. This is a significant improvement from last year. The combined English and maths pass rate places DMA in the top 2 schools in West Norfolk. Although progress 8 is difficult to predict at this point, the English and Maths progress 8 grades look very promising, with a significant rise this year. The sixth form continued to impress with all students achieving the grades they needed to move on to their Post 18 destinations. We wish them well in wherever they go next.

Changes to Pastoral Team

With a new year brings changes to our pastoral support team below is a list of the heads and deputy heads of houses.

Anti Bullying

All students were reminded of the Academy’s zero-tolerance stance on bullying.  We recognise that bullying is a source of much worry amongst young people and we are working hard to improve our responses to bullying.  One way is to make the reporting of bullying very simple – we have created an online form that students, parents or staff can complete and this is then sent electronically to the correct staff members.  The online form can be found here on our website: https://downhammarketacademy.co.uk/lifeatdownham/antibullying/
