Year 9 GCSE English Literature Summer Preparation

We are asking all our Year 9 pupils to embark on their OCR GCSE English Literature course by preparing themselves over the summer by getting to know their first text: Robert Louis Stevensons Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Please could you ensure that all pupils start the term well by having read or listened to the text over the summer holiday. They can do this by:

● purchasing their own copy of the text (ISBN: 978-1853260612)
● downloading it for free from the internet. https://www.gutenberg.org/files/43/43-h/43-h.htm
● listen to the text on audiobook https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcczA9Cwbow

This is an expectation and not doing so will mean your child begins the course at a disadvantage and will have to catch up after school or during their lunch time.

Uniform

The uniform supplies, Stratfords, will be in school on the afternoon of Thursday 13th from 1-6pm. If you require any items please send your son/daughter in to school with the correct amount in a cheque or cash to enable them to purchase items. I would like to take this opportunity to remind all students they are required to be in the grey and navy uniform from September so this is a great opportunity to buy any items you do not already have.

Year 13 Leavers Hoodies

The leavers hoodies for year 13 students have arrived this week and are available for students to collect from the 6th form reception. I hope they all enjoy and treasure their memories from their time with us in these garments as reminders.

Belgium Space Centre

If you received an invitation letter to apply for a place on the Belgium Space Centre trip in July 2020 we have extended the deadline to pay your deposit until Wednesday 12th June. If you have any questions regarding this trip please contact either Dr Paine or Mrs Cornelius. It is an amazing opportunity for students to experience the European Space Camp and I have no doubts will have a fabulous time.

Duke of Edinburgh

Students have worked really hard completing their Physical, Volunteering and Skills sections over the course of this year. They need to ensure that evidence is being uploaded to their eDofE. Pupils eDofE login numbers are available in my office and we can support them with uploading evidence if they need it. They will also need to ask their assessor to complete their report this is most easily achieved by getting the assessor to go to https://edofe.org/Assessor Year 10s need to return any borrowed expedition kit to my office ASAP as I need to loan this out to another Year group please can this be returned by Wednesday 12th June
