Can you speak French / German / Spanish ? Are you willing to give up a little time to speak to our KS4 students ? We are looking for people who can speak French, German or Spanish to allow our year 11 students a bit more practice speaking in the run up to their speaking exams in April. If you are able to spend a little time ( even 10 minutes would be great) before school ( 8:15-8:55), at lunch ( 12:50-1:20) or after school ( 3:00-4:00), we would be very grateful. If you can, or if you would like further information, please contact Julie Cowan, Head of MFL by email : firstname.lastname@example.org
Friends of Downham Market Academy (FODMA)
Just over 3 months ago a small number of parents, teachers and school governors set up Friends of DMA (FODMA) with the aim of supporting student activity which falls outside of the core business of the Academy. The group has been slowly growing and has been busy running events such as a bingo night, autumn bazaar and providing refreshments at school events.
Already the group has raised just shy of 1500 and are confident of reaching the annual target of 2500 this year. The team are in the process of purchasing an all weather table tennis table for students and have allocated money to support SEN year 11 students in their transition to further education. We also hope to help to fund an external drama group visit and support travel to away fixtures for our sporting students. If you think you would like to join the group an easy way is via the FODMA Facebook page, or just ‘like’ it to get updates of activities (link at the bottom of this article). Up-coming events include a table-top sale on 18th January and a Key Stage 3 Valentines Disco on 13th February, both held at the Athena Campus at Ryston. https://www.facebook.com/FriendsofDMA/.
Tickets for the Valentines disco will be on sale from the finance office at a cost of 3 each from Wednesday. The finance office is open from 8:40 9:10am each morning.
We are introducing lockers at the Academy from February half term 2020. The lockers are owned and maintained by Secure Locker Rentals and are available to rent on an annual basis at a cost of 30 per academic year (September to July). However, the first year cost will be pro rata at 15 due to the scheduled February half term installation.
Locker booking is now available at www.locker.rentals. 180 lockers will be installed initially so allocations will be filled on a first come first served basis. Book early to avoid disappointment. Payment can be made by Paypal, Debit or Credit Card by visiting www.locker.rentals. On receipt of payment the combination for the lock is sent to you via text or email.
Yr7 playground lockers are exclusively available to year 7 students.
The locker size is as follows:
Height 450 mm
All rentals are subject to our terms and conditions which are available during the booking process.
