Year 10 Parents’ Evening
The Parents’ Evening for Year 10 students is next Thursday (31st January) from 4:15 until 7:15. It would be great to see you all there to share in the many successes students in Year 10 are already having in assessments and to ensure that they are fully focused on the necessary improvements for the rest of the year. Appointments can be booked using the online system: https://parents-booking.co.uk/downhammarket
Year 11 Revision Event
On Tuesday 12th February, we are hosting an evening for parents of students in Year 11 to experience what effective revision should look like in the subjects that their children study. We hope to provide you with a few ideas of how to support your children at home over the coming weeks. Please book seats using the online booking system: https://parents-booking.co.uk/downhammarket
Year 11 Leavers Hoodies
We have sold a total of 131 hoodies, which is an amazing achievement. The supplier has confirmed the order will be fulfilled in two weeks so our anticipated date of delivery is Wednesday 6th February. These will be distributed to students through form groups.
Sixth Form Update
This week at DMA Sixth Form we have launched our exciting new enrichment offer to students. Available are ‘Great Books’, The Ryston Shield, NCS, Duke of Edinburgh Gold and a chance to participate in theatre productions as the year progresses. Students can sign up to as many of these as they wish and activities will carousel, ensuring students can try, for example, a range of sports throughout the year.
Year 11 geographers went to Cambridge to complete part 2 of their GCSE fieldwork. They compared contrasting areas of Cambridge around the Grafton shopping mall. The pupils completed their investigations with great enthusiasm, their behaviour was exemplary and proving to be great representatives of DMA. The pupils will be using their investigations in upcoming lessons as they prepare for their GCSE.
Careers and Futures Fair
Students participated, this January, in a careers and futures fair, at which they received inspirational talks from former alumni and had the opportunity to visit stalls from further education and employment providers such as Cambridge Regional College, College of West Anglia, and Nestle. Visitors commented that these students were the best behaved they had worked with so far and a great thank you must be said to our organisational partners Future First and the Skills Service; we hope to work with them to expand this event in the near future.
Last week Charlotte Nunn donated over 20cm of her hair to the Little Princess Trust a charity that provides real hair wigs for children and young people up to the age of 24 that have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer.
Congratulations to Luke Hare who played for Eastern Counties Under 16s v Essex at Culford School
